Intel dedicated servers, matched to the job.

Tell us what it runs and we name the Xeon. Or name it yourself: every Intel processor we rent is listed below by part number, with the price of the whole machine around it.

An Intel dedicated server is a whole physical machine, built around an Intel processor and rented to one customer. Primcast rents 33 Xeon and Atom processors on one, two or four sockets, from $46.18 a month for a Xeon (Intel Xeon E3-1284L v4 Quad Core 2.90 GHz · 16 GB DDR3 · 1 × SATA-SSD 240 GB · 500 Mbps), on unmetered ports in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Amsterdam and Bucharest. In one paragraph. The rest of the page is the detail.

These are the entry builds: the smallest memory and the standard drives on each line. More cores, more memory or a city of your choice changes the answer, which is what the next section is for. A price in euros is a machine sold only in Europe: Amsterdam and Bucharest bill the same figures in euros.

Price it for your numbers.

Fill in the sentence. The answer is a real line of the checkout: that processor, that memory, the drives and the port the machine comes with.

Nothing on this page fits that.

Ease one of the answers, look at AMD EPYC for more cores in one machine, or ask a person.

In Amsterdam and Bucharest the checkout bills the same figures in euros. A build to order adds a one-time $29 setup. Faster ports, bigger drives and graphics cards are priced on build to order; what is racked this minute is on instant servers; every other price is on pricing.

Every Intel processor we rent, with its price.

One row for each processor and socket count the checkout sells. The price buys the complete machine printed under the name. Click a column to sort.

Cores, threads, clock and launch year are Intel’s own figures, read 2026-10-03; “Intel” beside a name opens that part’s specification. PassMark is the average CPU Mark and single-thread rating for one processor from cpubenchmark.net, read the same day; ~ marks an average resting on fewer than ten samples. In a Silver or Gold number the second digit is the generation; on a Xeon E3 or E5 it is the number after the v (Intel’s guide to Xeon numbers). NY New York, MIA Miami, SF San Francisco, AMS Amsterdam, BUC Bucharest. Amsterdam and Bucharest are billed in euros at the same figures, so a processor sold only there is priced in euros.

Is an older Intel processor good enough?

Usually, and it is worth being exact about when it is not.

Intel launched every processor on this page between 2012 and 2019. The newest processor is the most expensive way to run a job that does not need it, and most rented-server work does not: a website, a database that fits in memory, a host full of virtual machines, a VPN, a stream. Those run out of cores, memory or port long before the age of a core matters, and the price here is the price of hardware whose expensive years are behind it. Why that is so is told on value dedicated servers.

The age does not change

  • The machine is yours alone: every core and every gigabyte.
  • Every processor here supports error-correcting memory.
  • The port is unmetered and the bill is the same each month. There is no power line on it.
  • The instruction set your software was built for; the list gives the generation per part.

The age does change

  • One core is slower than one core of a current processor. A job that leans on a single thread will feel it.
  • A socket holds fewer cores. For the most in one machine, see AMD EPYC.
  • DDR3 on the oldest lines, DDR4 on the rest. No DDR5 on a racked machine.

Newer Xeon than this is built to order rather than racked: third- and fourth-generation Xeon Gold, in New York. That class of machine is on enterprise dedicated servers.

Intel, AMD or ARM?

We rent all three. This is when each one is the answer here.

Intel is the answer when

the software is certified or licensed for Intel, when you want video encoded on the processor’s own graphics, when a per-core licence makes a few fast cores cheaper than many slow ones, or when the job needs four sockets on one board. It is also simply the widest choice we have: more processors, more lines, more cities.

Every Intel processor →

AMD is the answer when

you want the most cores in one machine. Our AMD EPYC line is built to order and goes far past what a pair of these Xeons reaches, and a sixteen-core Opteron is the least expensive sixteen cores we rent.

AMD dedicated servers →

ARM is the answer when

your software already builds for arm64 and you want native ARM cores for it: container hosts, build farms, and anything you would otherwise have to test under emulation.

ARM dedicated servers →

What if the software is licensed per core?

Then the processor sets the licence bill as well as the hardware bill, and fewer, faster cores are often the cheaper machine to own.

Windows Server and SQL Server are licensed by the physical core. Our checkout prices Windows Server Standard the same way: one flat monthly figure up to eight cores, then by the core. Four real builds:

Microsoft’s own rules for counting cores are in its Windows Server licensing guide. Editions, and SQL Server on top, are on Windows dedicated servers and SQL servers.

What is in the price, and what is not?

Each line says where it applies, because not every one applies to every machine.

The whole machineOne customer per server. The processor, memory and drives are yours and nobody else’s workload runs beside you.
A port nobody metersEach server has its own port at the access switch, sold as a speed. Nothing counts what crosses it: no traffic allowance, no overage.
Root, and your operating systemLinux images at no charge, Proxmox VE 9 on every Intel line, Windows Server and VMware vSphere on most. Windows is a paid licence.
A remote console, on most linesAn out-of-band console on the rack and blade machines and on the Xeon D and E3-1585L v5 lines. The Atom, E3-1284L and E-2286M lines have power control only.
One IPv4 address, more on the larger linesThe Atom and E3-1284L machines carry one address. The other single-processor lines and the oldest two-socket E5 line take two, the E5 v3/v4 line four, and the Silver, Gold and four-socket lines eight, each priced at checkout. IPv6 is added there too, as individual addresses rather than a routed prefix.

Questions people ask before renting an Intel server.

Each answer starts with the answer.

What is an Intel dedicated server?

A whole physical server built around an Intel processor and rented to one customer. At Primcast that is one of 33 Xeon and Atom processors, on one, two or four sockets, with the memory, drives and unmetered port printed beside its price. Nobody else’s workload runs on the machine.

How much does an Intel dedicated server cost?

From $21.68 a month for Intel Atom C2730 Octa Core 1.70 GHz · 16 GB DDR3 · 1 × SATA-SSD 64 GB · 500 Mbps. The least expensive Xeon is $46.18 a month (Intel Xeon E3-1284L v4 Quad Core 2.90 GHz · 16 GB DDR3 · 1 × SATA-SSD 240 GB · 500 Mbps) and a two-socket Xeon starts at $80.47 (2 × Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 Octo Core 2.10 GHz · 32 GB DDR4 · 2 × SATA 500 GB (RAID 1) · 1 Gbps). Every processor has its own price in the list. In Amsterdam and Bucharest the same figures are billed in euros. A build to order adds a one-time $29 setup; ports, drives and memory beyond the entry build are priced on build to order.

Why does a Xeon server cost so little here?

Because the machines were bought when they came off lease, after the expensive years of their life, and Intel launched these processors between 2012 and 2019. The monthly price pays for the room, the port and the people, and there is no power line on the invoice. The longer version of that story is on value dedicated servers.

Is an older Xeon still good enough for a dedicated server?

For most rented-server work, yes. Websites, application servers, databases that fit in memory, virtual machines, storage, VPN and streaming run out of cores, memory or port long before the age of a core matters. It is the wrong buy for a job that leans on one very fast thread, for the most cores in one machine (see AMD EPYC), and for software that demands a recent processor. Check that last one against the part number before you order.

Which Intel processor should I choose?

Start from the job, not the model. Small services fit an eight-core Atom. Video encoding wants a Xeon E3 with graphics on the chip. Containers and builds fit a Xeon D with eight or sixteen cores. Web, database and virtual machine hosts fit one or two Xeon E5, Silver or Gold. Software licensed per core wants the fewest, fastest cores that do the work. The sentence above does this for your numbers and names the part. The two our customers rent most are the four-core Xeon E3-1585L v5 and a pair of Xeon Gold 6130.

Which of these processors run at 3 GHz or faster?

By base clock: Xeon E3-1585L v5 (3.0 GHz), Xeon E5-2667 v4 (3.2 GHz), Xeon Gold 6136 (3.0 GHz). By PassMark’s single-thread rating the five quickest are Xeon E-2286M (2,694), Xeon E3-1585L v5 (2,208), Xeon E5-2667 v4 (2,189), Xeon Gold 6230 (2,175), Xeon Gold 6136 (2,166). The list has a “3 GHz or faster” filter and sorts by clock.

Which of these Intel servers have Quick Sync?

The ones whose processor carries Intel graphics: Xeon E3-1284L v4 (Iris Pro P6300), Xeon E3-1284L v3 (Iris Pro 5200), Xeon E3-1585L v5 (Iris Pro P580), Xeon E-2286M (UHD P630). Quick Sync is the hardware video encoder inside those graphics. All of them encode H.264; the E3-1585L v5 and the E-2286M also encode HEVC. Plex and Jellyfin both use it, and so does Cue, our own media server. The Xeon E5, Silver, Gold and Xeon D processors and the Atoms have no graphics on the chip (how to check any Intel part); on those, encoding runs on the cores or on a graphics card.

Intel Xeon or AMD EPYC: which is better for a server?

Neither, in general; it depends on the job. Choose Intel here for the widest choice of processors and cities, for encoding on the chip, for four sockets on one board, or because your software is certified for it. Choose AMD EPYC when you want the most cores in a single machine: our EPYC line is built to order and goes well past what two of these Xeons reach.

Is a Xeon better than a Core i7 or i9 for a server?

A Xeon is the part made for the job: it takes error-correcting memory, it comes in two- and four-socket versions, and it is built to run all day. A desktop Core processor gives a faster single core for the money and stops at one socket. Every racked Intel machine here is a Xeon or an Atom; one Core i5 machine is built to order in Bucharest.

Will Windows Server 2025, Proxmox or VMware run on them?

Proxmox VE 9 installs on every Intel line; its own requirement is a 64-bit processor with Intel VT-x, which every processor here has, the Atoms included. Windows Server 2025 is offered on the Xeon E5, Silver and Gold machines; the single-processor cartridges stop at Windows Server 2022. VMware is the one to check first: vSphere 8 dropped processors their makers had retired, which takes in the oldest Xeon generations here, so for vSphere 8 choose a Xeon E5 v4, Silver or Gold and confirm the part against VMware’s compatibility guide. Windows is a paid licence counted per core, which the sentence above adds for you.

Is the bandwidth really unmetered?

Yes. Each server has its own port at the access switch, sold as a speed, and nothing counts the traffic that crosses it: no allowance, no overage. 8 of the 13 Intel lines include 1 Gbps and the other 5 include 500 Mbps with 1 Gbps as an upgrade. What faster ports cost is on unmetered servers and 10 Gbps servers.

Do I get a remote console?

On most lines. Every Xeon E5, Silver and Gold machine and the Xeon D and E3-1585L v5 cartridges have an out-of-band console you open from the dashboard. The Atom, E3-1284L and E-2286M lines have power control and reinstall only, so a firewall mistake there is fixed by a reinstall or by us.

How fast is it delivered, and can I get a refund?

A machine that is already racked is handed over about 30 minutes after the payment is approved. A build to order takes 4 to 24 hours. A racked machine can be refunded on a written request within three calendar days of activation, pro rata less a 15% administration fee; builds to order and cryptocurrency payments are not refundable. The full terms are in the refund policy.

Is the processor I want in stock right now?

This page lists what the checkout sells, which does not change with the shelf. What is racked and ready this minute is on instant servers, and the live list can be filtered by processor at primcast.com/api/llm/readyservers. A line with no ready unit is built for you in 4 to 24 hours.

Can I see the exact processor before I pay?

Yes. The configurator lists every processor by its Intel model number with its price beside it, and the list on this page gives the same parts with the cores, clock and launch year Intel publishes for each.

Can I change the processor later?

Yes, when your drives can be moved to a new server. It is handled as a custom upgrade, so contact us with the processor you want and we will tell you whether the drives can move and arrange the change.

Know the part number? Configure it. Not sure? Ask a person.
