SSL radio streaming comes with every Primcast station, the free one included. Your listeners get an https:// link and a player that work inside secure websites, phone apps and radio directories, with nothing extra to buy or set up.
There is no plain http:// version to forget about. Every station is heard over https only, so a browser has no reason to block your stream on a secure page.
Why it matters
A secure website cannot play an insecure stream
Browsers treat an http:// stream on an https:// page as mixed content. Depending on the browser, the player stays silent, shows a warning, or the stream simply never loads. Most station websites, website builders and directories are https:// today, so an http:// stream is a stream fewer people can hear.

What stays the same
Your encoder does not change
Only listening is https. Your encoder keeps connecting with the server, port and password in your panel, whether it speaks Icecast or SHOUTcast, so moving to secure streaming takes no new settings on your side.

The Share tab in your radio panel keeps everything you give to listeners in one place: the https:// listen link to paste anywhere, a player you can drop into a web page, and your station's own public page.
Your station page shows your show line-up too, and once we approve it, your station appears in Primcast Tune In. All three are on every plan.

Secure radio stream questions, answered
Is SSL radio streaming free?
Yes. The https:// link and the player come with every station, including the free plan, which costs $0 a month after a one-time $5 setup fee. Premium and Platinum use exactly the same secure link.
What does my https:// stream link look like?
It is https://ny1.radio.primcast.com/port/stream, with your station's own port in the middle. You do not have to build it: the radio panel prints the full link on the Overview and Share tabs, ready to copy.
Can listeners still use an http:// link?
No. Every station is heard over https only, and plain http:// listening is switched off on our radio servers. That keeps one link working everywhere instead of two links that behave differently. A player too old to open an https:// address will not be able to tune in.
Do I need to buy or install a certificate?
No. The stream runs on our radio domain, and the certificate that secures it is ours to look after. There is nothing for you to buy, upload or renew.
Do my encoder settings change for SSL streaming?
No. Only the listening side is https. Your encoder connects with the server, port and password shown in the Go live tab, the same way it always has, and Icecast and SHOUTcast encoders both work.
How do I put the secure player on my website?
Copy the player from the Share tab and paste it into your page. Because the stream is https://, it plays on a secure site without any warnings. If you have no website, your station page already has the player on it.
Does the link change if I move to Premium or Platinum?
No. Your link stays the same when you change plans, so nobody has to update a bookmark or an app. What changes is how many people can listen at once and the quality you can send.
