A cheap bare metal server from Primcast is a whole physical machine you rent by the month, and full-size servers start at $36.96 a month. Every core, all the memory and every disk belong to you, on an unmetered port, with no contract. The hardware is a few enterprise generations old: we buy it when its first lease ends, and that is the whole reason the price is low.

01 What you get
The saving comes from the age of the hardware and from nothing else. Everything that makes it a proper server stays, and the few things you pay for separately are listed right here instead of in a terms page.
02 Why it costs less
Because the expensive years of the machine already happened, on somebody else's budget. Companies lease these servers new. When the lease ends they come back working, and we buy them outright at that day's price.

We buy it when the lease ends. It has to pass our hardware scan before we offer it to anyone.
It runs on the same network, with the same support, as everything else we sell, and you pay by the month.
Your monthly price covers keeping the machine running, plus our margin, and it stays the same when you renew. When a model is no longer worth its rack space, we retire it rather than cut its price and hope.
03 Good fits
Choose one of these if your job does not get any faster on newer hardware. Each shows what it needs and where its prices start.
01Backup machine
It sits idle until your main server fails. What counts then is how fresh the copy is and how quickly you can point traffic at it, not the processor. Give it the same memory and disk as the live machine, in another city.

02Staging copy
If the test machine is quicker than the real one, your tests report good news that isn't true. We still keep older generations, so you can often match what you run today. Tell us your processor and we will say whether we can match it.

03Per-core licences
Some databases and hypervisors charge for every core in the server, so a big processor makes the licence cost more than the machine. You want a few fast cores, and we keep 4, 6 and 8 core servers for exactly that.

04Small and permanent
A second DNS server, a jump host, a monitor that watches your other machines. It just has to be on, somewhere else, on hardware you don't share. Paying for room it will never use is money you lose every month.

Not a good fit: work that waits on the processor, such as heavy video encoding, machine learning, or single-threaded code where clock speed decides everything. Newer servers or GPU servers will do that job better, and we will tell you so.

05 Bandwidth
Yes. Nothing counts your traffic in either direction, at any port speed: there is no allowance, no burst window and no overage line on your invoice. None of the three sells an unmetered port.
Our figures come from the order catalogue. Every server ships with an unmetered port, so traffic itself is never billed; a 1 Gbps port is included on most lines and sold as an upgrade on the rest, and the chart shows the upgrade price.

The entry cartridge, from $9.00 a month: a small whole machine with its own port and its own power control, made for one job. The cheapest full-size server with one processor starts at $36.96 a month, and with two processors at $59.46.
Some are a few generations old, and we would rather say so up front. We buy business hardware when its lease ends and pass the saving on in the price. It isn't worn out: every configuration has error-correcting memory, the full-size servers have hardware RAID and a remote console, and they all run on the same network, with the same support, as our newest machines.
Each server has one monthly price for the machine as listed, with its port and one IPv4 address included. More memory, more addresses, a faster port or a Windows licence are added at the order step, and a changed configuration adds a one-time $29 setup fee. There is no contract, and the price stays the same when you renew. Every fee is on our pricing page.
A ready server is usually live about 30 minutes after payment is approved, and your login details arrive by email. A server we build to your specification gets its own lead time on the custom build page.
We keep spare parts for every server model we rent and replace them ourselves. Each machine passes our hardware scan before it reaches the list, and ECC memory, plus RAID on the full-size servers, helps keep a memory error or one failed disk from turning into an outage.
No. We don't sell DDoS protection on any server. If your service tends to draw attacks, put a scrubbing service or a delivery network in front of it. Because the port is unmetered, the clean traffic that reaches you never adds to your bill.
No. Torrents are against our terms of service on every server, and we would rather tell you here than suspend a server later.
If your job needs less than a whole machine, yes, and we sell one: the Cloud VPS. Once your budget reaches the price of a whole server, bare metal is the better buy. Nobody shares your cores, your disks or your port, so the speed you measure on the first day is the speed you keep.
Often, yes. Send us the processor model from your current server and we will check it against what we have. Being able to answer that is a big part of why we keep older generations. The Intel processors we rent are listed by part number, each with its price, on Intel dedicated servers. The AMD processors we rent are on AMD dedicated servers, with what a core of each costs.
Yes. Keep a server for as long as the job needs it. When you outgrow it, pick a bigger one, we set it up, and you switch over when it suits you. No contract holds you while you decide.
