GoDaddy alternative with a whole server that is yours

Primcast is a GoDaddy alternative for people who want a dedicated server, which GoDaddy no longer sells. You rent the whole physical machine, pay month to month with no contract, and there is no introductory rate that jumps when a term runs out.

01 What changed

What happened to GoDaddy dedicated servers

GoDaddy left the dedicated server business. If you had one, it was moved to a virtual private server, and if you want one now, they will sell you a VPS instead. Here is what their own end-of-life notice says.

The decision
GoDaddy retired all of its dedicated servers and stopped selling new ones.
The move
Automatic migrations to VPS hosting were scheduled to start in July 2024. Servers that could not be moved were given about a month of notice before deletion.
What you lose
On GoDaddy VPS hosting, virtualization such as Docker or VMware is not possible, IPv6 addresses were not carried over, and mail has to go out through an SMTP relay because port 25 is closed.
What you get here
A physical machine with nobody else on it, root access, and your choice of operating system, including Proxmox VE 9 if you want to run your own virtual machines.

GoDaddy figures are their published self-managed Linux VPS prices in US dollars, as listed in 2026. They sell other sizes too, and prices change, so check their site for today's numbers. A vCPU is usually one thread of a processor that other customers' servers also run on. Our cores are physical and yours alone. Machines built to your own configuration carry a one-time setup fee, which the configurator shows before you pay.

03 VPS vs dedicated server

What changes when the server is all yours

A VPS is fine for a small site that is quiet most of the day. Once your shop, game, stream or app has people waiting on it, these are the four differences you notice first.

01Processor

Nobody else's job slows yours down

On a VPS your virtual cores take turns with other customers on the same host. When they get busy, your pages get slow and nothing on your own server explains why. On a dedicated server every core is yours, all day.

02Storage

Your disks answer only to you

VPS storage sits behind a queue shared with the rest of the host, so it is usually the first thing to slow down under load. Here the drives are in your machine, and on the rack lines you can order a mirrored pair or a bigger array with hardware RAID.

03Control

Run containers and virtual machines

You get root on the hardware itself. Run Docker, or install Proxmox VE 9 from the operating system list at no charge on most of our server lines and run your own virtual machines.

04Billing

One price, month after month

No multi-year prepay to get the advertised number. You pay monthly with no contract, and paying 3, 6 or 12 months ahead lowers the price of the machine. The port is unmetered, so a busy month does not turn into a bigger bill.

04 Moving

How to migrate from GoDaddy, step by step

Most of the work is ours. You decide when the switch happens.

  1. 01

    Pick a machine

Choose a server in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Amsterdam or Bucharest. Ready machines are usually handed over in about 30 minutes. A machine built to your own configuration takes 4 to 24 hours once payment is approved.

  2. 02

    Plan the move with us

We go through what runs on your GoDaddy server and suggest what to move first. You get console access from the start, and we rebuild the machine as often as you need while you match the old setup.

  3. 03

    Switch over at your hour

We stay on the phone for the cutover at the time you choose, late nights included. None of this help shows up on an invoice. The details are on our server migration page.

05 Questions

GoDaddy alternative questions, answered

01Does GoDaddy still sell dedicated servers?

No. GoDaddy retired its dedicated servers, and its own end-of-life notice set July 2024 as the start of moving those customers to VPS hosting. If you need a physical server to yourself, you have to rent it somewhere else, such as Primcast.

02What is a good GoDaddy VPS alternative?

If your VPS keeps running out of room, a dedicated server is the next step: the same root access, but the processor, memory and disks are yours alone. The price table on this page pairs each GoDaddy plan with the machine its renewal price rents here.

03Is a dedicated server more expensive than a GoDaddy VPS?

Often not, once you compare against what GoDaddy charges after the first term. Their advertised VPS prices need a multi-year prepay and rise at renewal. Ours are monthly, with no contract, and stay the same. The price table shows the machine each renewal price rents here. A machine built to your own configuration has a one-time setup fee, shown before you pay.

04Can I run Docker, Proxmox or my own virtual machines?

Yes. GoDaddy's notice says virtualization such as Docker or VMware is not possible on its VPS hosting. On a Primcast server you have root on the hardware, and Proxmox VE 9 is in the operating system list at no charge on most of our server lines.

05Will you help me migrate from GoDaddy?

Yes, at no charge. We review what you run, rebuild the machine as often as you need, give you console access from the first minute and stay on the phone for the cutover at the hour you pick. We do not log in to GoDaddy for you, and we do not promise zero downtime, though near zero is realistic.

06Can I keep my GoDaddy IP address?

No. An IP address belongs to the network that holds it, so it stays with GoDaddy. Your server here comes with one IPv4 address and IPv6 at no charge, and you can set reverse DNS yourself before you move any mail.

07Is bandwidth metered?

No. Every server comes with an unmetered port, so you pay for the port speed and never for the data that goes through it. Faster ports are an option in the configurator, priced per month.

08What is support like?

Chat is answered in seconds by an assistant that can look at your account and your server. Ask for a person and a colleague takes over. Phone and tickets are open at any hour as well.

09How do I pay, and is there a contract?

Month to month, with no contract. The checkout takes cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, bank transfer, crypto and checks. Paying 3, 6 or 12 months ahead lowers the machine's monthly price.
