Contabo or Primcast: an honest split
Both companies rent AMD hardware by the month. If you are weighing up a Contabo dedicated alternative, the right pick depends on what you plan to run and where your audience is.
Primcast suits you if

- You need a server in Asia or Australia. We rack in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Amsterdam and Bucharest.
- You want NVMe drives in the base build. Ours ship with SATA SSDs in RAID 1 unless you choose otherwise.

Read the rows the way you would read any quote. Our prices are in US dollars and theirs in euros. Contabo shows its prices with or without VAT depending on where you are, shows lower prices for 12-month terms and adds a monthly fee for regions outside the EU, so check their configurator for your country. Their processors are a newer generation than ours. What you get here for less is the core count and, on the 64-core build, more memory. Our entry machine carries a one-time $13 setup fee and a custom EPYC build a one-time $29; Contabo charges no setup fee.
03Beyond the price
What you get with a Primcast server
The monthly figure is half the story. This is what changes once the machine is yours.
- Traffic
- Primcast: the port is unmetered, so nothing is counted. 1 Gbps comes with every EPYC build, and you can step up to 20 Gbps. Contabo: 1 Gbit/s with traffic sold as "unlimited" under a fair usage policy, and 10 Gbit/s on the larger Turin models.
- Location
- Primcast: the configurator charges the same for an EPYC build in New York or Bucharest. Contabo: the EU is included, and other regions add a monthly location fee.
- Delivery
- Primcast: a ready server is usually live in about 30 minutes. EPYC machines are built to order, typically in 4 to 24 hours. Contabo: check the delivery time their order page shows for your region.
- Control panel
- Primcast: ISPConfig at no charge, or cPanel Premier for 100 domains at $49.50 a month. Plesk is on the list too. Contabo: cPanel and Plesk are paid add-ons.
- Paying
- Primcast: month to month, with a discount on the machine if you pay 3, 6 or 12 months ahead. Contabo: month to month, with lower rates for longer terms.
- Support

Your streams, on the same account
Contabo does not sell streaming. If your server feeds a radio station or a video channel, Primcast can host that side too, so one login and one invoice cover the lot.

01Is Primcast a good Contabo alternative?

02Is Primcast cheaper than Contabo?
At the small end and the large end, yes. Contabo has no dedicated server under €149.00 and we start at $5. Our 32-core EPYC is $347.78 against their €399.00, and our 64-core is $472.98 against €699.00. In the middle, their Genoa 24 is cheaper than our 24-core build.
03Does Primcast have a fair use policy on bandwidth?
No. Your port is unmetered, which means we do not count the traffic that passes through it. You choose the port speed, and that speed is what you pay for. Contabo sells traffic as "unlimited" under a fair usage policy.
04How do I move my server from Contabo to Primcast?
Order the new server, then tell us what runs on the old one. We plan the move with you, rebuild what needs it and join the cutover, and that help is included with every dedicated server. Because the port is not metered, copying your data in costs nothing extra. Your Contabo IP addresses stay with Contabo, so plan a DNS change.
05Where are Primcast servers, and do you charge a location fee?
We run servers in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Amsterdam and Bucharest. EPYC builds are made in New York and Bucharest, and the configurator charges the same in both. There is no separate location fee.
06Who do I talk to when something breaks?
