Publish your Smart TV app on LG TVs

LG TV apps are published through LG Seller Lounge. There's nothing to sign: you upload the package from your control panel and LG signs it when you submit. The part that takes patience is LG's quality check, which runs for several weeks.

Free seller account LG signs the package Quality check: several weeks

Step by step

LG updates Seller Lounge from time to time. If a label below doesn't match your screen, look for the closest one that means the same thing.

1

Open your Seller Lounge account

  1. Go to seller.lgappstv.com and sign up.
  2. Choose whether you sell as an individual or as a company, and fill in your details. The account costs nothing.
2

Build the LG package

  1. In your control panel, under Build your apps, build LG. It takes a few minutes.
  2. Download the LG package (.ipk). It isn't signed, and that's on purpose: LG signs it during submission.
3

Register the app and upload the package

  1. In Seller Lounge, start a new app registration with your app's name.
  2. If Seller Lounge asks for an app ID, use the one shown under Store identifiers in your control panel, so it matches the package.
  3. Upload your .ipk.
4

Add the images and your details

  1. Icon: icon-400x400.png from the lg folder of your Store images download. LG asks for at least 400 by 400 pixels.
  2. Background: background-1920x1080.jpg from the same folder.
  3. Screenshots: one main screenshot and two to five more. Take them in LG's webOS TV Simulator or on an LG TV.
  4. Description, category and privacy policy: the privacy policy address is the one in your control panel.
5

Fill in the self-checklist and the UX scenario

  1. Download the current self-checklist from Seller Lounge and fill it in. LG turns away submissions made with an older version of the checklist, so always take a fresh copy, even if you have one from before.
  2. Write the UX scenario: a short document that walks through the app's screens and what each button does. The app's screens are Home, the live player, video details, the video player, Search and About.
  3. Mention that the app works with the Magic Remote's pointer, that the Back button goes back one step, and that no sign-in is needed.
6

Submit for LG's quality check

  1. Submit the app. LG's QA team tests it on its TVs.
  2. Expect it to take several weeks, and sometimes longer. If LG sends questions, answer them in Seller Lounge.
  3. When it passes, your app goes live in LG's app store.

Updates later: build LG again in your control panel, upload the new .ipk, refresh the checklist if LG asks, and submit. LG checks every update again, so leave time before a launch date. New videos and changed links don't need an update at all.
