FAQ

Common questions about setting up Edcast for live audio streaming with Primcast.

Where do I find my server address, port and password?

Log into your Primcast dashboard and open your radio server settings. Your stream hostname, port number, and source password are listed there. Copy them exactly into the Edcast Basic Settings.

Why does Edcast need lame_enc.dll?

Edcast requires lame_enc.dll to encode audio in MP3 format. Without it, MP3 streaming will not work. Place the file in the Edcast installation folder and restart the application.

Which server type should I select - SHOUTcast or Icecast?

It depends on your Primcast plan. SHOUTcast plans require the SHOUTcast server type; Icecast plans require Icecast. Check your Primcast dashboard to confirm which type your server is running.

My stream connects but listeners can't hear audio - what's wrong?

Check that Edcast has the correct audio input device selected and that it is not muted. Also verify the encoder bitrate, sample rate, and format match your Primcast server settings.

Do I need a paid Primcast plan to stream?

Yes, you need an active Primcast radio streaming plan which provides the server credentials used in this tutorial. Visit our Radio Streaming page to view available plans and get started.
