FAQ

Common questions about setting up the Hauppauge StreamEez-Pro with Wowza Streaming Engine and Primcast.

Which streaming service should I select in the StreamEez-Pro dashboard?

Select Wowza Streaming Engine from the Streaming Service drop-down in the StreamEez-Pro encoder dashboard. This enables the XML-based configuration workflow used in this tutorial.

Are the Wowza publisher name and password case-sensitive?

Yes. The publisher name and password in Wowza Streaming Engine are case-sensitive and may only contain alphanumeric characters. Make sure you enter them exactly as configured when loading the XML file into StreamEez.

Why do I need to configure Incoming Security in Wowza?

Wowza Streaming Engine uses RTMP authentication on the live application to verify that only authorized publishers can connect. Enabling Incoming Security with a publisher name and password prevents unauthorized streams from being pushed to your server.

Where do I copy the hauppauge.xml file?

Copy the hauppauge.xml file to the computer where the StreamEez application is installed. Then use the Browse button in the encoder dashboard to locate and load it.

What should I do if the encoder fails to connect?

Verify that the publisher name and password in the XML file match exactly what was entered in Wowza Streaming Engine. Also confirm that Incoming Security is enabled on the correct live application and that your Primcast video service is active. Contact our support team via live chat if the issue persists.
